Speed up Folder Browsing
You may have noticed that every time you open "My Computer" to browse folders that there is a bit of a delay. This is usually due to Windows automatically searching for network files and printers every time you open Windows Explorer. If you do not want Windows to search for network files and printers, then you can disable this option to increase browsing speed significantly by doing the following steps:
Open "My Computer" (Click "Start" then select "My Computer")
 Click on the "Tools" menu
 Click on "Folder Options"
 Click on the "View" tab.
Uncheck the "Automatically search for network folders and printers" check box
 Click "Apply"
 Click "Ok"
Reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
